Technical and Installation Requirements for Spacer Rods
Due to the critical role of spacer rods in transmission lines, the following factors should be considered in their design:
(a) Mechanical strength against short-circuit current axial pressure
(b) Tensile and compressive strength between the two clamps
(c) Gripping strength of the clamps
(d) Movement and electrical performance
(e) For damped spacer rods, the choice of rubber material
(f) Specific requirements should reference national standard GB/T 2338-2002.
Spacer rods connect inert objects and can absorb vibrational energy without completely dissipating it. Consequently, the likelihood of spacer rod damage is higher than that of anti-vibration hammers, with common damage resulting from vibrational wear related to the rod's structure. In the past, silicone rubber was used for damped spacer rods in China, but it has poor wear resistance. With assistance from the Changchun Chemical Research Institute, a new material (No. 2 rubber) has been developed and is still in use today.
